One of the main frustration I have with WhatsApp is that you cannot go into a deep discussion. Whenever something interesting is happening and I try to go deeper into an issue, other participants ask not to continue because it fills their feed.
So how can we go a little bit more deeper in WhatsApp discussion?
One solution is to open a new group for the subject, But then we lose the whole group and we cannot go back to the group with our conclusions in an efficient way. Also in moving to a new group we may lose other participants which may have an interest in the issue.
To solve this problem I suggest a new design for a discussion app. According to this design, first, we will link between a group and a subtopic. the link will be done using “create sub-topic” button:
To be able to communicate our conclusion back to the main group we will add the converge discussion module on the sub-group (like in delib.tech). The top selected conclusion will I’ll be represented back to the main group.
The main group participants will be able to see the summary under the open topic. The topic will also appear under the main group-topics menu:
I do tend to think that such an architecture will enable us to create and deeper discussions in our social apps.
What do you think? Can you propose another architecture?
