The vmPFC is connected to self control[1]. Patients with damage to their ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) are less averse to uncertainty than healthy counterparts[2][3]. So it seems that vmPFC inhibits impulsive behiviour.
ventral mPFC might be involved in affective processes associated with compassion to the suffering opponent[4]..
