Cognitive control is defined as the provision of top-down support for task relavent pricess with representation of task demands being used to bias processing in favor of task-relevent stimuli and responces<ref>MacDonald et al, Dissociating the role of the dorsolateral preforontal cortex in cognitive control, science 288, 1835-1838 (2002)</ref>.
